STORM & XERXES
7th AUGUST 2015
I often describe Xerxes as delightfully chaotic, always rushed and rarely relaxed! The moments leading up to the proposal were exactly that, until it felt like the time had stopped. He had arranged a beautiful lunch in a Perth winery however there were too many people around! So on the way home we found ourselves on the bank of the beautiful swan river and he insisted we go for a walk. We stopped on a quiet part of the river and he was looking at me nervous but composed and he handed me the most beautiful ring I had ever seen – It took moments before my mind caught up with what was happening but my heart had already said yes. It was a beautiful moment.
Our wedding was nothing short of a magical fairy tale. Our theme was glamorous elegance. We chose 2 exclusive venues to capture our vision. From the floor to ceiling glass, floating eternity chapel at the Mulia Bali, often called marble city to the manicured trees/pools/fountains and decadent surrounds where we took the bridal party photos – everything was breathtaking. And we wanted a cliff edge view for our reception. We couldn’t go past Semara! The stunning views, the privacy, the manicured lawns and gardens and the serenity. We did look all over Bali at venues but when we saw The Mulia and Semara we knew.
We wanted glamour elegance. We wanted our guest to be in awe and we wanted them to have fun and be entertained. The moment I saw the reception at Semara I was utterly speechless. The Villa was transformed into a magical mid-summer nights dream. Only fresh flower were used through out with shades of gold, cream, white and peach. Everything was draped in low light, candles and romance. We had a custom acrylic stage put over the pool where we cut our 4 tier cake made with 24c edible gold paper. The moment was made even more perfect when the fire works erupted as we kissed under the moonlight.
We had free flowing signature cocktails, a champagne tower, shisha, belly dancers and an amazing fire dancer show. We were so in love with every minute of our special day and we will remember it forever.
Pallas Couture was amazing to deal with, nothing was too hard and I had 7 fittings to ensure everything was perfect. I will always treasure my experience with Pallas couture. When I first went in to try some dresses on, I just knew I wanted to be a pallas bride. I had a complete different picture in mind for what I wanted but the first dress I tried on – I fell in love! And the love affair continued. I was so in awe with every detail. My dream dress was custom designed and crafted to my every wish and I had 2 gorgeous looks. For the aisle walk I had a stunning detachable tulle embellished skirt. I felt like a princess.
That Special Moment
2 days before our wedding day we were actually affected by the Ash cloud and all flights were cancelled! In the end we had 18 cancellations and I didn’t know my father would even make it to walk me down the aisle until the morning of the wedding! It was a very stressful time for us but we remained positive and hopeful and enjoyed as much of the lead up as we could. The day of my wedding I was nervous getting ready but when our song played and my dad was by my side walking me down the aisle I had never felt so calm. The moment my eyes met for my fiancés I felt like we were the only 2 people in the room. That moment was perfection.
There will be times where it all feels a tad stressful! Just remember that it is about your love story, it’s a day where you get to celebrate your journey so far with all those who love you. Be a little extravagant and have all the things you dream about. When it’s all over you are left with the photos, the video and the memory. You want to look back and think – “Wow! We had the best night and had everything we ever wanted”.
A piece of advice for the bride, always smile, the cameras never stop snapping and take a few moments for yourself and take it all in – it goes so quickly.
