RENEE & STEVE
14th September 2015
Steve and I met on September 14th, a year later to the day we were on holidays celebrating our 1-year anniversary when Steve handed me a tin. Inside that tin was a puzzle. As we waited for our dessert Steve suggested we do the puzzle together.
The Puzzle was a cute poem with 3 pieces missing. Steve mentioned the pieces might have dropped; as he reached down he handed me the missing pieces which read “Will you marry me?” and produced the most amazing pear shaped diamond engagement ring!
Cottesloe Beach has always been a special place for me; with a lot of my teen years spent there. We decided on a casual beach wedding.
We live in Kalgoorlie so a lot of the booking and planning was done online. My wedding dress was the first item I bought and the rest of the wedding was based around it. I wanted mint green lace bridesmaid dresses and found them after a long search!
All in the family
I have 2 beautiful kids, my daughter Emily 9 and son Jordy 7; who were so excited to be involved in the wedding and have Steve officially be their step dad.
The lead up to the wedding was so much fun! I enjoyed all the DIY including painting vases and woven hearts, making lace bowls, trawling Pinterest, Etsy and finalising vendors.
We decided on a small relaxed cocktail reception and The Blue Duck restaurant was perfect! Amazing food, stunning views and very close to our ceremony location of North Cottesloe beach. Keeping the guest list to a minimum we ended up with 55 people and this was just perfect.
The ceremony was beautiful and filled with so much love. We had a ring warming ceremony in which our rings were passed around the guests for them to hold and give their well wishes. I placed them in 2 organza bags as we were on the beach and I was so scared they would get dropped! We also had a ‘love lock ceremony’ in which Steve and I were given an engraved heart lock to each other and a key. We locked them together and then gave the keys to my kids Emily and Jordy to throw into the ocean.
We stayed on the beach for photos with our bridal party and we then made our way to the reception venue. The laid back easy going cocktail reception was just perfect and allowed us all to mingle with everyone.
Our suppliers were all so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure everything was done perfectly and exactly as I had imagined!
The one thing I wish we had of done was hire a videographer. I wish we had captured the whole day and the speeches. But apart from that the day was perfect; even with the morning rain it’s safe to say our wedding was one of the happiest days of my life!
