“We loved entering the room to see everyone that we invited! And we especially loved the speeches, everyone that spoke put so much effort into them and there were so many tears in the room.”
The Proposal
We met in 2013 through a recommendation from a mutual friend. After a small chat on Facebook, Joe asked me to coffee. The 1-hour coffee turned into drinks at a bar in Claremont and what was meant to be a quick ‘catch-up’ turned into 4 hours; by the end of it, it felt like we had known each other forever!
After 2 years together, Joe asked me to marry him on an evening when it was least expected. Joe pretended we were going to dinner for his best mates birthday. The whole event was planned; down to the point when Joe’s best mate rang me to say he was running 10 minutes late for dinner.
It was freezing and Joe wanted to take me outside to go and see a building and I refused as I hate the cold! Then Joe said, “If you love me, you will come”. So I dragged my feet following him outside in the cold, complaining like crazy! And I lasted all of one minute before turning around to go back into the warmth. Joe came up behind me and grabbed me by the scuff of my jacket and said: “There is a reason why we are out here”… “Will you marry me?”. It was so cute! I totally forgot how cold I was and of course, I said ‘Yes’. Joe had organised dinner by the fire with white roses, it was really beautiful!
The Venue
We had attended a few weddings at Frasers and loved how the room was so large and the guests had a full view of everything no matter where they sat in the room. We also loved the service and the quality at Fraser’s!
The Theme
We wanted a modern. Classical and timeless wedding. So we wanted everything to be all white! We also had small elements of Rose Gold to match a small detail in my engagement ring.
Favourite Detail
We loved the starlight dance floor! It lit up the room and made the room look magical. It also created a fun vibe to ensure everyone used every square inch of the dance floor once meals were served!
DIY Projects
I made the table menus and table numbers myself. I took inspiration from the invites that were created as I knew which the fonts were, so I made the rest on photoshop.
The Gown
I had my dress custom made by Alvin from Aelkemi in Perth, WA. I gave Alvin 3 images and told him the sections of each image that I loved. Alvin created a dress which incorporated the elements that I really wanted such as a long sleeve, low back, detachable trail and I LOVED IT! I had the best experience with Alvin, he is so lovely.

Instagram… is the BEST! And Pinterest is the BEST for inspiration…
Favourite Moments
We loved entering the room to see everyone that we invited! And we especially loved speeches, everyone that spoke put so much effort in and there were so many tears in the room. I quite often watch the speeches over and over again in our wedding video.
Planning Advice
- I recommend getting 2 – 3 quotes on everything you wish to hire.
- Use a spreadsheet to try and stick to a budget, it also helps with remembering to book and pay for everything.
- Spend time with your partner! The day goes so fast, and you want to be able to debrief and see each other as it is such a special experience.
Happiness
I’m glad I went all out and tried to achieve the dream wedding that I had created on my Pinterest Boards. I’m glad I made sure I tried to talk to as many people in the room as possible because it all adds to the beautiful memory! I am also glad I had my hair up for photos, and down for the reception because the wind would have blown my hair EVERYWHERE during photos.
Standout Vendors
ALL OF THEM! We loved every single supplier we selected, they were all so lovely and accommodating. They all seemed to genuinely care about our day too, which is also really nice to see!
