“The inspiration for us was ‘Hamptons meets the South West’! We wanted our wedding day to be a celebration and feel like a party!”
The Beginning…
Mat proposed to me in Kings Park; at the same location where he asked me to be his girlfriend! And he completely surprised me!!
The Theme
We knew we wanted something a little different, casual but yet beautiful. We decided to have an all-white wedding; we wanted all our guests to be in white/light outfits.
The inspiration for us was Hamptons meets the South West! We wanted our wedding day to be a celebration and feel like a party. We really wanted to channel a Hampton’s white party feel. We knew we wanted a marque wedding with a magical garden. The Old Broadwater Farm with its permanent marque was perfect! We fell in love the minute we stepped on to the farm.
Favourite Detail
Personally my favourite detail from the day were my flowers! When I spoke with my florist I really let her take control and create her own piece of art. I was literally speechless – she nailed the brief! All our instructions were that they needed to have textured greenery and white flowers – the rest is up to her – She was fantastic and I highly recommend her.
The Dress
I was so excited to ask my my best friends to be a part of our special day. At the time one of my best friends was living in Melbourne, so my girlfriends and I thought why not do a girl trip and go wedding dress shopping?! After a few disappointments and a few joyful tears, we stumbled across local designer Mathieu Salem . He understood my vision for my gown and my bridesmaids dresses. Although he was in Melbourne the whole experience was smooth and a little exciting. I am fortunate enough to travel quite a lot with work, so Mathieu and I had a few fittings in a few airports haha.
Blogs & Social Media
I found Instagram to be extremely useful during my planning stage as well as business recommendations through word of mouth. Being in a job based around events and the beauty industry, I was very lucky to find inspiration quite close to home.
Favourite Moment
It was a minute before I walked down the aisle. My mum and dad on either side of me, my beautiful friend Sammie started singing, her voice is so magical and at that point I knew I was the luckiest girl in the world. In one minute I was to be marrying my best friend, my person, the love of my life and in that one minute I felt like nothing else in this world mattered. I hope every bride gets to experience an emotion like that because it was so special!
Funny Moment
As my beautiful stylist was fluffing my dress out getting me all ready for the walk…. My dad’s phone started ringing in his pocket; my mum lent over and said “Seriously Kevin?!!!” At that point I was feeling very emotional and a little overwhelmed, I just started laughing and felt so relieved! My dad always knows how to make me laugh. This moment definitely calmed the nerves!!
Advice to other Couples
Trust the people you hire. You hired them for a reason. I found the whole experience extremely fun and stress free. Our photos are perfect, we left that to Hannah. Our video was amazing, we left that to Neni Films, our stylist, my hair stylist, my makeup artist, our florist, our entertainment and even our wine selections… all perfect and stress free; we explained our vision to all our vendors and left it in their capable hands. The venue is also so important, we chose a venue that had everything and took care of it all! It made it very very stress free for us.
Grateful
We are so glad we invested in a videographer; the day is so magical and goes so fast! Having our video to look back on and see all those small details that we may have missed being caught up in the whirl wind of a day is so special. I still get goosebumps when I watch it now.
Standout vendors
Bree Shine is so talented! She works for Old Broadwater Farm she did all my styling and again I had complete faith in her and she nailed it! The Old Broadwater farm team in itself are fantastic they truly care about you and anything you need. Our videographer and photographer- we couldn’t have asked for more they were perfection!! The glam team nailed it, and the food!!!! Ultimo Catering – our guests had lots of food in their tummy’s and said – I quote “this is the best wedding food I have ever had!” Again they listened to our vision, and they delivered!
